If I had a nickel for every time I've heard that question, well, I'd have a lot of nickels. The fact is, a video, whether it's a television commercial, direct mail DVD or a web-based sizzle reel, its cost is unique to every job. I know that it can be frustrating for clients and seem evasive but I can assure you that it is not.
My typical response to that question is to reply with the question, “how much does a car cost?” The first response is a tilted head combined with a look of confusion. To further their confusion I then barrage them with question like a salesman on a car lot. "Are you buying a new car or a used car?" "Are you buying a Chevy Focus or are you buying a Land Rover?" "Are you getting a navigation system?".
The usual response I get is "How does this related to how much a video costs?" I always tell them that it's the same. There are endless amounts of variables when thinking about a video. Is it a one location shoot with one talent on camera? Is the location provided by the client or will a rental be needed? Will the shoot require a camera crane or slider dolly? Will there be animated graphics needed to get the message across to the viewer?

"You only have one chance to make a first impression."
Time-lapse Video has become all the rage as of late, and a lot of that has to do with the fact that Digital SLR cameras and even point and shoot cameras make it easier for everyone to experiment with this art form.
A well-done time-lapse can really be dramatic and engaging for your audience, whether that audience is your friends and family or potential customers for your business. Most people think about clouds and sun rises and sun sets when they think about time-lapse, but there are many more uses for a good time-lapse.
Imagine that you’re a company that constructs office complexes, creating a time-lapse video that follows the construction from breaking ground to completion is a great way for customers to see the process and work involved in putting a building up.
A cake store could set up a time-lapse inside their bakery case and show the cakes coming in and out of the case all day long and end with a tag line like “get in here quick, these cakes are moving fast”.
Truly the possibilities are endless for creative uses of time-lapse in your business.
